Mrs. Chapin has been crowned. Now it is time to crown Mr. Chapin. The competition to declare a winner will be held April 24 in the old gym at Chapin High School.
Awards will be given out in a similar format to Mrs. Chapin. There will be an individual winner for each grade, then the overall winner, Mr. Chapin. Although the Mr. Chapin is not quite as serious as Miss Chapin, it is a fun night for everyone.
It is a chance for the guys to strut their stuff just like the girls.
“Mr. Chapin is going to be huge this year. All of the profits go to a fundraiser for the Eagle Pride scholarship and always makes me laugh,” said senior Grace Powlas.
The theme for this year’s competition is based on the Wild West. Contestants make creative costumes based on an Old West theme.
“It’s a fun way for the guys to show their personality,” said sophomore Taylor Till.
The contestants will also participate in a traditional formal wear competition accompanied by their female escorts. Potential Mr. Chapins will be asked an on-stage question after telling a little about their personal interests.
“I love seeing the guys all dressed up, and the theme ware is always funny,” said junior Bonnie Bull.
Mr. Chapin will be judged by Chapin’s by Mrs. Amy Taylor, Mr. Akil Ross, and Mrs. Dawn Weathersbee.
“I can’t wait to see who is going to win Mr. Chapin,” said senior Zach Rish.
No one can know who the winner will be, but everyone is eager to find out.
Jordan Hicks thinks he has as good a chance as any contestant. Hicks started preparing as soon as he could for his ultimate goal of being crowned Mr. Chapin.
“I know I’m going to win. I’m the best looking and no one would be a better fit for Mr. Chapin,” said Hicks. He is confident and composed.
“Jordan refuses to lose this competition. He is the one and only Mr. Chapin,” said Hicks’ senior escort Peyton Player.
Hicks feels the competition cannot come close to his swagger. The only way his mind will change is if he personally sees the crown given to someone else.
