Laney Kincaid – Reporter
Hey my name is Laney Kincaid! This is my first time every doing Journalism so this all new to me, but I’ve been told it’s amazing. I work in the mall at Delia’s, so I spend most of my time at school or work. Whenever I finally have free time I’m always with my friends or family. I’m terrible at sports, so the only physical activity I even like is yoga with my friends. I’m addicted to nectarines and clementines and I love to eat in general. I’m an overly enthusiastic person who is usually talking or laughing at random things. My friends tell me that my laugh would be the perfect soundtrack for a horror movie. When people meet me, their first impression is typically that I’m very random. I have fourteen animals, but I’m not going to bore you with all of their names. Basically, it’s senior year so it’s going to be awesome!
Brittany Franceschina-Reporter
Hey I’m junior, Brittany Franceschina. This is my first year on the newspaper staff. I enjoy language arts and love to read and write, which is why I joined the staff. I also like current issues and I think it is important that students know what is going on in the world, outside the four walls of Chapin. I would like to have a career where I can travel a lot because I love seeing new places. I have been competing in gymnastics for 12 years and I hope to get a college scholarship to a division I school in the future. My favorite gymnastics teams areGeorgia, NC State, andFlorida. I moved here fromPittsburghwhen I was ten and I love getting together with my family to watch Steelers games. I also likeLakeMurrayand growing our own vegetables in our yard.
Lilly Frederick-Reporter
My name is Lilly Frederick. I am originally from San Diego, California but have been living in Chapin for two and a half years. I am currently a junior and this is my first year on the newspaper staff. I enjoy writing and am looking forward to being published in the Chapin Claw. I plan on attending college at either Wofford College or New York University to get a Masters in English and a minor in Creative Writing. From there I plan on either becoming a writer or working in a publishing house. I speak fluently in California Slang and eat copious amounts of Italian food. One place in the world I want to visit is Italy to spend time eating the food and living the culture.
Erika Jones-Reporter
Hey y’all. I’m junior Erika Jones. I’m a southern girl, born in Georgia and raised in South Carolina. I’m a wild child and I can be pretty crazy. Writing is my passion, but I want to double major in early childhood education and sign language and teach first grade at a school for the deaf. One place I would like to go before I die is Italy. I love music. It’s a part of my life all the time. I have two cats and they are my babies. I enjoy driving with my windows down and music playing loud. I’m a Mormon and love my church. Like most girls, I enjoy shopping and long walks on the beach. My favorite movie is Monty Python and the Holy Grail and can quote almost the whole movie. I’m just your normal teenage girl and I’m excited for everything that is in store for me this year!
Kathleen Mirgon- Reporter
Hey everyone! My name is Kathleen Mirgon and I am a junior atChapinHigh School. This is my first year on staff, and I can’t wait to get started. I am very involved in my sports and extracurricular activities. When I’m not at school I love to be active, whether it may be going for a run or hanging out with friends and family. Ironically, one thing I cannot live without is my friends and family. I tend to always over think everything…. And whether it means now or later on in life I always have to have goals set for something I plan on doing or achieving. I have always hoped that people will remember me for being fun to be around and a hard worker!
Maggie Moncure-Reporter
Hi, I’m sophomore Maggie Moncure, I’m 15 years old and I’m a writer (dur!).
This is my first year on the newspaper staff, but last year I had two articles published in the Chapin Claw newspaper as well as my column being featured in the 2011 CHS Lit Mag.
I am very sarcastic, witty, and have a snarky sense of humor.
I’m a big Theatre geek, and have been in multiple productions here at Chapin High and I’m in drama club. I love to take pictures, of myself, other people, places, things, (everything pretty much) and am pretty creative–at least I like to think I am. When around my friends I talk too loud, too fast, and too often. I have my learner’s permit
I absolutely adore dubble bubble gum, and may have a slight addiction/obsession…
Hopefully you’ve enjoyed reading about me and aren’t a creepy stalker O.O
I’m also awkward…
K’bye! XD
Cole Morgan/reporter
I am senior Cole Morgan and this is my first year on the Chapin Claw Staff. I enjoy Bonfires with my friends and just hanging out in general.
I am on the Chapin Rugby team for my third year and hope to play for the College of Charleston’s team. I play because it is exciting and a lot of my friends play. We have won the state championship two years in a row and hope to win again this year.
I have also played guitar for about five years. I’m in the guitar club here at Chapin High and enjoy playing with my friends. My favorite guitar is a black B.C. Rich that I got for Christmas two or three years ago. I hope to one day perform in a band.
Alison Galat-Reporter
I’m Senior Alison Galat, and this is my third year on the Chapin Claw Staff. I’ve always attended Chapin High and within learning who I am within the School system I have decided not to attend college. I am traveling to Kenya, Africa to work, help and offer any help within a children’s orphanage called “Gods little Children”. My grandfather Pastor Dave Bentley sponsors this organization with our church Bayview Baptist and I have chosen to work within youth groups and camps until I am physically ready for the long trip to Africa. I decided to take the year off after school for closer adventures within the United States, very close to home I’m going to Cherokee where I’ll spend a few months at a Youth Camp and help troubled teens realize their potential.
Before I decided to be a traveling missionary, I wanted to go to AUI (Art University Institute) of Charleston and become a Pastry Artist. After a few years within the missionary field I may decide to go back and continue this dream.
My major interest are movies, I am a movie addict. I own well over 250 DVD’s and over 600 VHS’s. I love TV but I can’t act. I enjoy movies made by Tim Burton and Movies staring Johnny Depp and Nicole Kidman. I also enjoy music, Country, Rap, Metal, I love it all. All types of music tell something different and I see no reason to limit myself to one genre.
Erika McVey- Editor
Hey everyone! My name is Erika and I’m the editor of The Chapin Claw. Journalism 1 was the very first class that I took on my very first day of high school, and if you asked me then I never could have guessed how much I would grow to love the subject. I started as a scared, quiet little freshman with questionable taste in clothes, and now I’m a much more fashionable senior applying to colleges as a journalism major. I won’t bother to give you a laundry list of my achievements and extracurriculars because I know you really don’t want to hear it, but needless to say my life has been hectic and I’m ready to see how it all translates into the next chapter of my life. Now enough of the boring stuff; let me tell you a bit about me personally. I have crazy curly hair that is impossible to tame, a weird obsession with octopi, and some of the best friends ever. I’m a total klutz so naturally I’m balancing on the wall of the football stadium in my picture. I’m almost out of space, but I hope everyone else enjoys this year as much as I plan to!
Eddie Eagle- Reporter
I like to fly in spare time. I am a decent writer, but sometimes I just wing it.
