The 2010 Miss Chapin pageant blasted off with a trip back in time to the 50’s. From poofy poodle skirts to rockin’ waitress attires, each contestant showed her personality and creativity through theme wear she had chosen. The night played out smoothly despite the chaos that had come before.
Everything had not gone as planned, at first. Snow and ice prevented the pageant from taking place on its original date, February 13. Instead, the pageant was held March 1. “The night went great.” Mrs. Bussell said, “Everyone was so cooperative with the rescheduling. The girls and everyone involved did a fantastic job.”
Chapin now has a new set of reining queens. Savannah Hale gained the Miss Freshman title. Stacy Martonen is now Miss Sophomore. Iyanna Purnell has the Miss Junior title and Ashton Shumpert is Miss Senior.
Breanna Scurry, a junior, is now holds the 2010 Miss Chapin title. Her success in winning this title will lead her to compete in state and possibly national competitions. Despite winning numerous other pageants, the Miss Chapin title is closer to her heart and her home and winning it is a dream come true. “I’ve wanted to be Miss Chapin since I started high school and now it’s finally happened” Scurry says.
