As you walk down the halls during sprit week, you see many different themes. You may see crayon colors, crazy hats, hula skirts, or Chapin blue. You might pass people not feeling any sprit, or not liking the topic of the day. Have you ever wondered who or how they come up with the spirit week days you’re participating in?
Executive board member Maggie Stroud says, “Student government members get into committees and brainstorm on sprit day topics and consider old topics that they recycle. After they have made there decision, they get the topics approved by Mr. Satterfield. Maggie also says that they are open to student suggestion, but it is hard because they have a lot to get done in a short period of time. How would the student body feel about student suggestion?
Sophomore Cory Hallman says, “I would enjoy student suggestion because I would get to choose what I wear. I would like if they did Techno Tuesday or Kung Fu Wednesday.”
Mrs. Boone, Student Government sponsor, says that every member of the student body is part of student government. The executive board members represent each grade in choosing the sprit week days. Mrs. Boone also says she would be open to student suggestion on spirit topics or any other ideas. Mrs. Boone says if any student has an idea they can tell the student government in three ways. The student body can e-mail her or Mrs. Dooley. They can also attend a house meeting and present their suggestion.
They can also inform a student government member of the student government class which meets on A-days during third bock. The student body might even see a student suggestion box in the future where they can give their ideas.
Sprit week is a fun way for student body to show their school sprit.
